Meeting Minutes from Greater KC Mason Contractors meeting on 11/29/11
Submitted by Rebecca Speake
The meeting was called to order by President Mike Larkin at 6:48 pm. 19 members were in attendance.
Chris Stewart was introduced as the new attorney for the association. He gave a bit of info on his background, then explained the proposed changes to the by-laws including the “clean up” to allow email notification of meetings in lieu of mail, and to allow an associate member to hold the office of Secretary, with no provision to advance to a higher office. The motion to approved the by-laws changes was passed.
Then a vote was held to elect Craig Gordinier as Treasurer and Rebecca Speake as Secretary of the Association and this also passed with no one expressing opposition. The new Board of Directors of the association as of 1/1/12 are:
Bill Osborne, President
Tony DeNegri, Vice President
Craig Gordinier, Treasurer
Rebecca Speake, Secretary
Maike Larkin, Past President
Mike told us about a “flashing rodeo” that Vickie Enloe is organizing. Watch your email for further details as to where and when.
Tony DeNegri thanked everyone who has served on the Masonry Promotions committee over the last 2 years. Mike Larkin will be the new committee chairman and promises a big push with the architects and engineers after the first of the year.
Tony DeNegri gave a Treasurer’s report that we have $47,741 total in the bank and have already received renewal of dues payments from 4 to 5 members. Rebecca Speake gave a demonstration of how easy it is to pay your 2012 dues on line with a reminder that the $30 discount is only good through 12/31/11.
Mark Wilhelms gave us an update of the “check off” program for a one cent charge per block/brick to promote masonry. An industry vote is expected in March or April of 2012. So far they have received an approval rating of more than 70% of those polled.
Mark also told us about the ASTMC 90 ballot that is coming up in December to change the requirements for cross webbing in concrete blocks.
We discussed moving the future meetings back to the Golden Ox, which will save us some money each month. Everyone agreed.
The Board of Directors is to meet on December 20th at Noon with a location to be determined.
Tony DeNegri expressed his thanks to Mike Larkin for serving as President of the Association for the last two years and the countless hours he has put in. All membership agreed.
Rebecca conducted a raffle of door prize items from Ryan Materials, Oldcastle, & Cretcher Heartland and the meeting was adjourned just before 8 pm.
